“1N2D” Season 2 Bids a Tearful Farewell and Releases Teaser for Season 3

1N2D

The time has come to say good bye to the members of “1N2D” Season 2 as the show wrapped up its last episode. The closing statements were filled with tears, hugs, thankfulness, and a trip down memory lane.

On November 24, KBS’ variety program “1N2D” officially wrapped up season two with a final goodbye from the members. Similar to the show’s signature opening in which the members gather together to introduce the episode, it was fitting to see the members gather one last time to bid farewell to its audience.

The closing statements revealed how the cast and crew of “1N2D” had formed a bond similar to that of a family. Oldest member Yoo Hae Jin expressed, “It has been eight months (since I joined) and the experiences have been wonderful. I now have great younger friends. I’m thankful to the younger friends for their help, and all the staff have worked very hard.”

When listening to Yoo Hae Jin’s comment, Uhm Tae Woong couldn’t help but explode in tears even before his turn. The actor stated, “I want to thank everyone because I feel that I have received an overflow of love, and I will never forget. Everyone, please quickly forget about me and anticipate the new ‘1N2D.’”

Cha Tae Hyun, who plans to return for season three, said, “Choi Jae Hyung PD comes to mind, as well as Seung Woo hyung (Lee Seung Woo). Please anticipate season three.” Singer Sung Shi Kyung also added his sentiments when he said, “I started the show after being touched when I experienced the ‘viewer tour.’ The program is a show that you oddly grow affectionate towards. Season three will start, but I think ‘1N2D’ is the best program as a KBS weekend variety show.”

Having been with the show since its first broadcast in August 2007, Kim Jong Min, who also plans to return for season three, couldn’t help the tears as he stated, “I first came here in my mid 20’s. Thinking about it, I think I really love ‘1N2D.’ However, there is something I love more than ‘1N2D,’ and that’s Soo Geun hyung. “

In response, Lee Soo Geun, another original member since the show’s first broadcast, gave a 90 degree bow and expressed in his tearful farewell, “Although my body may not be present, my heart will always be here shouting and being together with you.”

“1N2D” first aired six years ago on August 5, 2007 with members Kang Ho Dong, Noh Hong Chul, Eun Ji Won, Lee Soo Geun, and Kim Jong Min. However, the show reached its highest popularity with members Kang Ho Dong, Eun Ji Won, Lee Soo Geun, MC Mong, Lee Seung Gi, Kim C, and Kim Jong Min. Season two of “1N2D” first aired on March 4, 2012 with members Lee Soo Geun, Kim Jong Min, Uhm Tae Woong, Cha Tae Hyun, Kim Seung Woo, Sung Shi Kyung, and Joo Won.  Along with the changing members of the show, “1N2D” will also experience a change in production team as season three is expected to be produced under a different producer and staff team.

Season three of “1N2D” will consist of returning members Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Jong Min, as well as new members Kim Joon Ho, Kim Joo Hyuk, Jung Joon Young, and Defcon. The new teaser for season three shows a unique approach to the show as the new members express their honesty in their lack of confidence to be funny. The different approach of season three has stirred anticipation as many have become curious of the chemistry between the members who form such an unlikely group.  “1N2D” season three will air its first episode on December 1 at 4:55pm (KST).

MC Mong’s reps deny rumors of a comeback

Fans had their hopes up as it was recently rumored that MC Mong was getting ready for a comeback. However, it turns out the artist has no plans of doing so at this time.

JTBC‘s ‘Entertainment News‘ gave viewers exclusive coverage of MC Mong’s current status and revealed, “MC Mong is currently taking trips to LA, and spending the majority of his time in a studio in Gangnam with musicians that he’s close with.”

The news team also asked a worker near the vicinity of the studio who shared, “I spotted MC Mong visiting the studio over three times in one week.”Duble Sidekick‘s Park Jang Geun who has been frequently meeting up with the rapper in the studio updated fans on how MC Mong is doing and shared, “He will be coming back later anyways. MC Mong is doing well.”

The program also raised questions about whether MC Mong was secretly participating in activities with Duble Sidekick. They also stated that one of NS Yoon-G‘s songs, “Shower“, which featured Duble Sidekick, sounded like it contained MC Mong’s voice.

After the show aired, a rep of MC Mong denied the questions raised about preparing for a comeback on the show by stating, “As of now, there is absolutely no plans of returning. The recording studio is just a place that MC Mong can find peace in. [These questions raised] are absurd.”

Park Jang Geun also expressed disappointment with the way ‘Entertainment News’ used his statement to help support their claims, commenting, “I don’t understand what is their concern with MC Mong hanging out at a place that is his only source of comfort. MC Mong is a hyung who created Duble Sidekick’s project room in his recording studio for us. He seems to have a hard time even just going back and forth to the recording studio.”

On the issue of MC Mong’s voice being heard in NS Yoon-G’s song, he added, “The voice in NS Yoon-G’s ‘Shower’ is mine, but I guess it matches 91% with MC Mong’s voice? I’m glad at least 9% is considered to be my own voice. They say an expert analyzed it… I want to meet this supposed expert.”

“1 Night 2 Days” 3 Major Problems

"1 Night 2 Days" Former PD(Photo : “1 Night 2 Days”) “1 Night 2 Days” Former PDIt hasn’t been a while since season 2 of “1 Night 2 Days” began to air. Slowly, the show is beginning to become less and less popular as other shows like “Running Man” and “Dad! Where Are You Going?” are becoming the most popular shows to watch.

Season 1 had a viewing rate of over 40% and received the title of being Korea’s representing TV show. Lee Seung Gi became a prince with an incredible number of fans and Kang Ho Dong became one of the few most requested MCs. What’s so different about season 2 that’s creating such a different result?

To point out a problem from the show “Running Man”, it is that the game is too repetitive. The members of the show all play each game so people at times get bored of watching the same thing over and over again. However, they found a solution to this problem by widening their scale and limiting repeats.

“1 Night 2 Days” however, all the members play the same game over and over again. If the game gets long, the reactions of the members are important so even if something isn’t funny, they have to react.

People are feeling the same way about “1 Night 2 Days” as what they used to feel while watching “Running Man”: Unrealistic reactions and repetitive games. They are in need of a drastic change.

Another problem is that they are lacking a clear leader. Kang Ho Dong was a great leader in season 1. He made mistakes and people criticized him but he stubbornly pulled through with Lee Soo Keun as his right arm and Lee Seung Ki acting as the good guy. All the members had different characters and nicknames.

When season 2 named Kim Seung Woo as the leader, the problems began to rise. Naturally, Lee Soo Keun began to lead as well so two people became leaders this season. It seems like it would be a better idea to put Kang Ho Dong back in season 2 but that seems to be out of the question since SBS is preparing a different show for him. If they don’t make any changes, we have bad feelings for “1 Night 2 Days.”

One important last issue is the real leader of season 2: the PD. Na Young Suk PD became famous for his strong preferences. Regardless of how big the guest stars are, he made everything realistic and made everything alive. There were even nights when the members bet against all the staff. When the staff lost, they all slept outside. These realistic concepts made the viewers love him.

The new PD however, is too weak. He cares about the members and the staff too much. He is unable to bring the show to life since he lets them get away with anything. He listens to their complaints and lets things go one by one.

For various reasons, the show “1 Night 2 Days” has become a show in danger of being cut. Although the expectation for it is still high, there must be a change in order to save this show.

Is MC Mong suffering from sociophobia?

MC Mong has been revealed to be suffering from sociophobia.

He was recently chosen as the #1 celebrity that fans want to see return, but currently he is suffering from such intense social anxiety that he is unable to even move around freely.

The staff of ‘Good Day‘ looked for stars who were currently taking breaks because of controversies, and relayed news to their fans. However, when the staff tried to visit MC Mong’s company, the company was no longer in the original place and had moved instead to Gyeonggido. The staff members then found the location where the company had moved to, but the building manager said, “There are neither cars nor people. People usually don’t come around“.

Will MC Mong return soon?

The singer has been out of the public eye since draft dodging accusations arose. He avoided the big charge and was found not guilty on the account of violating military service. He was sentenced to a one year probation and serve 120 hours of community service because the court found him guilty on obstruction of justice charges for attempts of delaying his military enlistment without a valid reason.

With Kang Ho Dong successfully returning to the entertainment world after his scandal, tvN recently invited fortune tellers to look at the possible return of MC Mong. One of the fortune tellers stated, “I can see that MC Mong is having a hard time. He may be preparing to return to the industry bit by bit, but it is not good to return this year.” Another one said, “It seems that people are helping him for his return. His luck will start again in 2014. But it is the worst idea to return in 2013. If he returns, it is highly possible that he will be swept up in rumors and scandal again.

However, despite their predictions, it appears many people do want to see MC Mong again. On a previous episode of ‘Three Fools‘, the MCs of the show ran a survey where they asked people which celebrity they wanted to see come back the most. MC Mong gained 67% of the vote, with fans commenting, “I want to see MC Mong’s bright self again“, and “There are fans who still love and want his music“.
